Thanksgiving is tomorrow. This time of year is always a great time to look back at all the things that make the outdoors amazing. I know Erik and I have a lot to be thankful for. We've had many great experiences this past year. From catching a 7 lb 8 oz bass on Toledo Bend from a kayak, to finally launching our clothing brand. There's a lot to think about and be grateful for.
The topic of gratitude made me think about what makes our sport of fishing so great. Growing up, I always would look forward to the weekend trips we would make out to our trailer. They would always be a time for us guys to step away, and reflect on life as we chased bass. These trips made me who I am today. I am eternally grateful that I got to spend so much time with some of the people that matter most to me. If you've been fishing for a while, you know the sport isn't always about the fish, it's about spending time with loved ones, spending time outside in God's great Earth, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
There have been so many times where I needed to take a break, and step away from life. Fishing is how I would do accomplish that. The outdoors provide us with so many great opportunities to do just that. The best part about fishing is the great escape it provides.
This Thanksgiving , let's remember all the people and things that make this sport we love awesome. Don't forget to tell all your fishing buddies that you are thankful for them and they matter to you. It wouldn't hurt to also send a prayer of gratitude up to God thanking Him for all the blessing he has bestowed on us through the outdoors.
